Pre-Sales Senior Scientist - Bioinformatics

We are seeking a bioinformatics scientist to be part of a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team of Pre-sales Scientific Specialists.
You will be responsible for helping our European sales and product marketing organizations to position and leverage our bioinformatics product line, as part of the informatics solutions we offer to customers in pharmaceutical companies, the biotechnology sector, chemical and petroleum companies and academic labs. Tracking and resolving technical issues discovered by the customers you will liaise with the development staff to ensure the issues are resolved and incorporated not future releases. Additionally you will attend conferences and meetings to represent Accelrys and raise awareness of our product and solution offering.
With a PhD in Biology, Computational Biology/Chemistry or Bioinformatics, you will have experience in the use of software in the field of Biological Sciences gained either in industry or academia. You will have an in-depth knowledge of one or more of the following areas: biotherapeutics; sequence analysis; biomarkers; genomics; protein engineering; systems biology; or translational research, be competent in the use of database, workflow and/or data pipeline technologies and ideally familiar with Pipeline Pilot.
Technical knowledge in one of the following: Java, Perl, UML/XML, Unix/Windows/Linux Platform would be a plus.
Coupled with your technical expertise you will need the communication skills to engage customers and proven project management skills, technical consulting experience and a track record of delivering technical training.. The role involves working with a diverse team of scientists, sales managers, product managers and software developers.
With our world-wide customer base, significant travel (up to 50%) will be required and this position can be located in either a home office in Germany (you will need to be a fluent German speaker) or based in either our Cambridge, UK office or a home–office within the UK.

Working with our Account Managers, the Sales Associate will undertake prospecting, networking and the qualification of marketing leads. This will be achieved largely through telephone contact with prospective and current customers within the Pharmaceutical and Materials markets as well as within academia. While the main focus of the role is to add opportunities to the sales pipeline, individual project work can involve driving marketing initiatives such as events, conferences or direct marketing activity, sourcing lists of names or researching new sales channels and business areas.
You need to be self-motivated, highly organised and be able to quickly absorb technical and product information. With a credible and confident telephone manner you have the drive and enthusiasm to maintain a high call volume and as you will be assessed and rewarded on how effective you are at qualifying leads and generating opportunities in the pipeline you need to have the ambition to succeed and to achieve challenging quarterly sales targets!
Prior sales experience and/or a degree in a scientific discipline is advantageous though not essential and you should state on your application why you want a career in sales and believe you are the right candidate for this role.

Senior Product Marketing Director – Materials Science

This senior leadership role within the marketing organisation will have global responsibility for driving the success of Accelrys’ Materials Science business through the direct management of the product marketing organisation and by providing matrix leadership across all the functional areas across our Materials Science business matrix including R&D, sales, and services. You will be responsible for leveraging our Materials Science franchise to optimise our opportunities in this market for both our scientific modelling & simulations products and our research informatics platform capabilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Undertake market assessment, segmentation and competitive analysis of Materials Science market in order to produce positioning strategies across our MS product line
- Develop detailed understanding of Materials Informatics market opportunities, access current traction within customer accounts for scalability and repeatability to determine the TAM and ROI for the company and make recommendation for future investments
- Undertake MS customer base interaction and relationship building to develop a comprehensive understanding of customer needs and expectations and contribute mighty to the prod road map
- Review sales channel strategy for MS product lines, working closely with business development to identify key 3rd party relationships, technology partners and potential alternate channels of distribution
An experienced marketing executive, you will be an expert at creating go-to-market strategies by line of business line, creating buy-in across the matrix of key stakeholders, and enabling precision cross-functional execution. You will have significant marketing experience in key positions of progressive responsibility, marketing products/services in the chemical, petrochemical, automotive, aerospace and/or consumer goods industries and a deep understanding of software product/solution marketing. With a proven track record of market share growth within an advanced technology industry you are a self-motivated, entrepreneurially-oriented individual with an ability to manage diverse teams in multiple locations across multiple projects.

Solutions Consultant – German speaking

Support Scientist

This scientist will provide scientific and technical support for Accelrys products in the area of materials science. Working closely with leading industry and academic researchers in a consultative support role, key responsibilities will include email and telephone support, acting as a liaison to product development and marketing regarding customer reported issues, software testing and scientific validation.
To be successful in your application you will possess a Ph.D. in chemistry (or a related field) combined with in depth knowledge of polymer simulation at the atomistic and mesoscale levels. Additionally you will have expertise with Accelrys' Materials Studio software product and knowledge of Pipeline Pilot would be advantageous along with a good understanding of Linux clusters and network system administration.
High quality customer facing presentation skills and excellent communication skills are essential for this role. You should also be interested in developing your scientific career through continuous publications, conference presentations and participation in delivering customer training.
Candidates must be willing and able to travel for up to 15% of their time.
