Max Carnecchia is the Chief Executive Officer of BIOVIA‐Dassault Systèmes. After acquiring Accelrys in 2014, Dassault Systèmes announced the creation of the BIOVIA brand combining Dassault Systèmes’ own efforts in BioIntelligence, their collaborative 3DEXPERIENCE technologies and leading life sciences and materials science solutions from Accelrys. Prior to this, Mr. Carnecchia had served as President and CEO of Accelrys and a member of the Board of Directors since 2009. Mr. Carnecchia led Accelrys through significant growth and transformation, successfully transitioning the company to the leading global provider of Scientific Product Lifecycle Management software and services.
Prior to Accelrys, Mr. Carnecchia served as President of Interwoven, a global leader in content management solutions, having previously served as Vice President of Alliances and Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations after joining Interwoven in 2001. Prior to this, Mr. Carnecchia served as Vice President of Global Sales for Xoriant; Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations for Smart DB Corporation sales; and he held management positions at Intel and Group 1 Software.
Mr. Carnecchia holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from The Stevens Institute of Technology. He serves on the Board of Directors of Guidance Software (NASDAQ: GUID), which develops and provides software solutions for cyber security. He also serves on the Board of Directors of ALDA (Analytical Life Science & Diagnostics Association), an industry trade association for companies that develop and supply life science, analytical and diagnostics products and services.
Dr. Matt Hahn oversees product development at BIOVIA-Dassault Systèmes including the implementation of the BIOVIA Foundation underpinning the company's broad software solutions, the BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot scientific workflow authoring application and BIOVIA’s ScienceCloud information management and collaboration workspace for drug discovery.
Dr. Hahn has been designing and creating software solutions for the research community for over 25 years. He co-founded SciTegic in 1999, and as CEO, led the company through significant growth to become the market leader in scientific workflow solutions serving most of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. In 2004, SciTegic was acquired by Accelrys, where subsequently Dr. Hahn served first as General Manager of the company’s SciTegic division and later as Chief Science and Technology Officer.
Prior to founding SciTegic, Dr. Hahn was Director of Development at Molecular Simulations Inc., where for ten years he oversaw the development and market introduction of a wide range of successful chemistry and informatics software products. He received his Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from the University of Santa Cruz under Professor W.T. Wipke, co-founder of the scientific software company Molecular Design Limited (MDL).
Judith Ohrn Hicks and her team are responsible for global human capital management programs and practices at BIOVIA-Dassault Systèmes. She has more than 20 years of experience in the field of human resource management and organizational development, having spent the majority of her career building high performance teams within high technology companies.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Hicks held the position of Vice President, Human Resources at Pharmacopeia, Inc., a biotechnology company (which acquired predecessor company Molecular Simulations, Inc. and was then acquired by Ligand Pharmaceuticals in 2008). She began her career in the specialty retail management field and has extensive experience in the field of executive search. She holds a B.S. in Business from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
As Senior Vice President, Software Development, Scott Hiraoka is responsible for defining and directing R&D and software development strategies at BIOVIA-Dassault Systèmes to maintain and enhance the brand’s position as a leading provider of Scientific Product Lifecycle Management solutions. Mr. Hiraoka is a broadly experienced senior software executive with several decades of industry leadership in enterprise software, wireless technology, supply chain solutions, healthcare and lean manufacturing including recent experience in cloud computing. He is skilled at building rigorous internal company processes to ensure the development and quality assurance of new software products and enhancements to existing products using both on and offshore resources.
Previously at Accelrys, Mr. Hiraoka served as Vice President of Professional Services responsible for worldwide delivery of the company’s broad product line of enterprise applications and platform technologies. Prior to joining Accelrys, Mr. Hiraoka was the founder and CEO of ArrowKey Systems, Inc., an early developer of wireless manufacturing execution system and warehouse management solutions, which became part of Epicor Software Corporation. At Epicor he served as a senior executive holding key leadership positions including SVP and General Manager of Epicor iSolutions Division and SVP of Worldwide Product Development.
Before joining Accelrys, he was also a co-founder and leadership team member of several startup and new technology companies including NewMomentum―a SaaS solution for global anti-counterfeiting and IP risk management.
Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President Operations
Eric Palmer brings more than 20 years of executive leadership to the management team at BIOVIA-Dassault Systèmes. As Chief Financial Officer and SVP Operations, he oversees all global financial activities with extensive operational engagement, driving and supporting key strategic growth and profitability initiatives. Working closely with the CEO, Mr. Palmer has launched many programs that are bolstering BIOVIA’s rapid growth.
Prior to joining BIOVIA, Mr. Palmer was Chief Financial Officer of Gemcom Software International, a provider of software and services to the natural resources sector which was acquired by Dassault Systèmes in 2012 and subsequently renamed GEOVIA.
Prior to GEOVIA, Mr. Palmer was the Chief Financial Officer with Nu Flow, a water technologies solution company, focused on providing green alternatives. As Executive Vice President of Corporate Development (Mergers and Acquisitions) with Subex Azure Limited, a developer and marketer of software employed by telecommunications carriers, Mr. Palmer oversaw all mergers and acquisitions. Prior to that, he served as CFO at Syndesis Limited, a provider of software and services to telecommunications companies, and as CFO and Executive Vice President of Finance with Mortice Kern Systems, a developer of software targeted at Global 1000 companies.
Mr. Palmer began his career as a lecturer at Wilfred Laurier University, later moving on to work with KPMG and KPMG Management Consulting. A Certified Public Accountant, a Chartered Accountant, and Certified Management Accountant, Mr. Palmer is an Honors graduate of Wilfred Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
For over 25 years, Glenn Wada has built an impressive track record of leadership and success in high technology/enterprise software sales, business development and service delivery. He has proven talent for driving innovative operational strategies, building successful teams, and rapidly developing new markets for start-up companies as well as multi-billion dollar global technology enterprises.
Prior to BIOVIA, Mr. Wada was EVP & Chief Revenue Officer at Accolade, a venture-backed, tech-enabled services organization where he helped to double the company’s revenues in less than two years.
Prior to Accolade, Mr. Wada spent ten years at SAP as a Senior Vice President and General Manager, and was part of SAP’s Senior Leadership Team―a designation reserved for their top 2% of global leaders. Mr. Wada was responsible for SAP's $1.6B Global Line of Business Sales organization encompassing SAP’s CRM, HCM, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Procurement solutions. In prior roles, he ran SAP’s Large Enterprise Net New Sales, North American SME Sales and Alliances/Business Development.
Prior to SAP, Mr. Wada held numerous senior leadership positions at PeopleSoft, including General Manager of their Global Enterprise Performance Management Solutions group.
Before PeopleSoft, Mr. Wada spent three years with Paramount Pictures as Global VP Finance for the Studio, and another seven years with Ernst & Young's Merger/Acquisition and Audit practices.
Mr. Wada is currently a Board Member at Special Olympics and an Executive Committee Member at the Haverford School in Pennsylvania. Mr. Wada holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
