PreSales Scientist

Location: Bangalore , India

In this role you will support the Accelrys India sales team and distributors to qualify potential prospects for the Accelrys solutions. The role will involve screening of potential customers, understanding their research problems and suggesting a modeling solution to them. Sometimes this will involve proof-of-concept projects to convince the potential prospects.

Based at our office in Bangalore , you will have the opportunity to interact with Academics, Government labs and industrial companies across India . Participation in conferences and publications will be encouraged.

The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background with a good knowledge of informatics tools (including data management tools; workflow applications; molecular modeling) used in the chemical industry and excellent customer presentation and interpersonal skills. Experience of using Accelrys products would be advantageous though is not essential.

The job will involve travel across India for up to 50% of the time and there may be occasional international travel.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Essential Skills;

•  Experience in using molecular and crystal structure visualization and drawing programs

•  Experience in Quantum/Molecular mechanics and Molecular Dynamics calculations using academic or commercial software.

•  General theoretical understanding of modeling techniques – quantum, molecular, monte carlo simulations.

•  Polymer, crystal structure modeling, structure property correlation expertise

•  A PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or a related field with research experience

•  Experience in writing software codes for scientific computation

•  Proven Perl programming experience and good knowledge of data management applications.

•  As a major part of the role is delivering technical presentations, candidates must have excellent oral communication skills and good public presentation skills.

•  Willingness and ability to travel across India for up to 50% of the time.

Advantageous Skills;

•  Hands on experience using statistical modeling – PLS, PCA, GFA etc

•  Experience in Rietveld Analysis of x-ray diffraction data

•  Experience in using Accelrys Materials Studio
