Senior Research Scientist, Materials Science

Reporting directly to the US Manager of Worldwide Contract Research, we are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual with a strong scientific background to undertake computational research utilizing Accelrys’ scientific software to further our client’s efforts in the areas of chemical and materials science. This exciting position will work closely with the sales organization and travel to prospect and client sites presenting the value of our computational methods as well as be involved with proposals and the results generated in similar projects.  Qualified candidates should have a good understanding of computational research and a minimum of 3-5 years of post doctoral and relevant industry experience using Accelrys suite of software such as Materials Studio, Pipeline Pilot, Cerius2 and/or Insight II.  Other key requirements include in-depth knowledge of quantum chemistry, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, solid state chemistry and physics.  The candidate should have a strong molecular modeling, background in catalysis together with an understanding of computational theory and atomistic tools such as density functional theory, force-fields parameterization, classical simulations, spectral simulations, multiscale modeling, etc. The qualified candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Sciences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. Travel with this role can be expected up to 25% at times.

 

 

Product Manager, Biological Sciences

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Product Management, the Product Manager of Biological Sciences will spearhead the specification and design of Accelrys’ next generation of scientific software products, based on our world-class Pipeline Pilot informatics platform. This critical position will manage the complete lifecycle of the Biological Registration suite of databases and applications that will assist our customers with the identification, registration, storage, searching and Intellectual Property (IP) protection of biological entities. This position will also be responsible for defining the product strategy and roadmap, development and prioritization of market requirements, and the development of sales tools and collateral, ensuring that the sales organization is well equipped to deliver these products to customers in the Life Sciences’ vertical market. 

Experience & Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, or related science; MBA preferred.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience within scientific software or related industries.

• Experience in biological databases, biological data management, sequencing, text mining and analytics, or electronic lab notebooks preferred.

• Verifiable track record of successfully defining and launching complex software products in a product management capacity.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority is required.
• Excellent communication skills are a must.

 

Marketing Communications Specialist

Global Programs Manager, Marketing Communications

Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing Communications & Demand Generation, the Global Programs Manager will manage a diverse range of marketing programs including oversight of the creative process and execution for marketing research, communications, and branding activities to ensure product strategies and championing successful execution.  This individual will manage all aspects of program development, including marketing communications strategy and architecture, advertising, web portals, collateral, and manage third party outsourcing and vendor relationships related to their program portfolio. The individual will also be responsible for end to end measurement of programs, ROI reporting, and program optimization/testing.  Other key responsibilities include the development of the messaging platform by product-line; go to market planning, and outbound campaigns to ensure high impact role outs to the field and customers. S/he will drive all lead generation responsibilities including landing page, offer, response, SEM, and database marketing. S/he will create a highly productive working relationship with sales and the product and industry marketing managers to create all materials needed to drive brand and demand (i.e., campaign strategies, tactics, activities, and materials). As Accelrys is a global organization, the Global Programs Manager will collaborate, coordinate, and tailor programs with colleagues in APAC and EMEA.Demonstrated leadership in creating and driving the execution of a marketing communications plan in an innovative, fast-paced environment with sharp attention to execution, detail, and process is an important attribute in this role. Excellent writing, editing skills along with exceptional creativity, organizational, and project management skills are a must. Experience with CRM (salesforce.com or equivalent), web site and web analytics is essential. The ideal candidate will have a combination of demand generation, marketing communications and/or product marketing, within a global enterprise software oriented organization. Strong visionary, strategic, organizational, project leadership, writing, editing and planning skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are required. Senior Graphic Designer

The Graphic Design Specialist will be ultimately responsible for design, layout, and editing of corporate communications, print media, as well as scientific/technical product literature inclusive of newsletters, product packaging and splash screens, print and web graphics, brochures and corporate presentations. Throughout the entire design process the Graphic Design Specialist will support company-branding guidelines and will proactively seek out ways to improve consistency and effectiveness of visual communications.  The qualified candidate will possess a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Applied/Fine Arts, Visual Communications, or a related degree.  A minimum of 5 years of work experience in desktop publishing and/or graphic design is required in a corporate environment, preferably within a technical or scientific related industry.  The qualified candidate will possess commercial grade interactive, online marketing campaign development, and website development experience. Verifiable working experience with Adobe CS3/4, In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, and HTML is also required. This senior level position will provide support and services to Pipeline Pilot customers. Key responsibilities include scientific and technical support, short consulting projects, and training of Accelrys customers. Due to the high customer facing nature of the role, it requires someone with outstanding interpersonal skills and a willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.  To be considered for this opportunity you should have 3-5 years of relevant industry experience, an advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Computational Biology/Chemistry, or Bioinformatics and significant experience troubleshooting technical issues in Windows and Unix/Linux environments.  Expertise with Pipeline Pilot, fluency in scripting languages (including JavaScript, Perl, and VBScript) is highly desired.  Oracle and/or SQL database installation and maintenance experience, or experience in image analysis, would also be an advantage

The qualified candidate will possess at least 3 years of practical software development experience, specifically in an “agile” software development life cycle. Reporting directly to the Worldwide Controller, the Purchasing & Corporate Services Manager will perform a variety of tasks requiring a high degree of independent thought, judgment, discretion, and confidentiality. Specifically this role will have a multitude of responsibilities including but not limited to management and oversight of the purchasing system (creating suppliers, vendors, and POs), administration of the outsourced travel agency, monitoring of corporate credit cards and payment processing, as well as vendor and supplier management. This role will also include day-to-day administrative support of the CFO and other key executives. This is a diverse and challenging position that will be a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a variety of responsibilities in a global, publically held software company. A minimum 5 years experience in purchasing, contract, and travel management in an automated environment is required.
