Mark J. Emkjer

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mark J. Emkjer is president & CEO of Accelrys, Inc. Mr. Emkjer brings more than twenty-five years of management experience to Accelrys, most recently as president and chief operating officer of Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., a clinical data management solutions provider. During his tenure at Sunquest, Mark more than doubled earnings per share and cash, resulting in a doubling of the stock price. Mark successfully completed the sale of Sunquest to Misys PLC for over $400 million. Prior to joining Sunquest, Mark was president and chief executive officer of Pace Health Management Systems, Inc., a provider of patient point-of-care systems. At Pace, Mark increased revenue by 50% and successfully sold Pace to 3M Corporation. Mr. Emkjer’s ability to deliver strong financial results is also demonstrated by his success in increasing revenue, returning to profitability and significantly increasing shareholder value at Hospital Cost Consultants, where he was president and CEO. Mr. Emkjer holds a BS in Finance and a MBA from Florida Atlantic University and the University of Miami, respectively. Mark started his career with American Hospital Supply Corporation (now Baxter Healthcare) where he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility. He has also worked for Foster Medical and Tecxel Hospital Service Corporation, where he held corporate vice-president positions.
