UGM Keynote—IBM’s Hehenberger to Discuss Game-changing Computing Technologies

In his keynote address, Dr. Michael Hehenberger, Business Development Executive with IBM Research, will discuss new computing technologies with the potential to significantly improve our understanding of disease and drug mechanisms. Deep analytics, modeling and simulation, exascale computing (one million trillion calculations per second), machine learning and “deep Q&A” all demonstrate the future potential of analytics and data management across numerous industries. For example, IBM “DeepQA” technology has already made headlines by powering the IBM Watson computer system to a win over “Jeopardy” champions Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter in an exhibition match broadcast earlier this year.

Accelrys Supports ELN Migrations

For organizations interested in moving to Symyx Notebook by Accelrys from third-party electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs), Accelrys is offering a new program designed to ease migration to the multidisciplinary Accelrys ELN. The program was created in response to customer interest in a straightforward migration path to Accelrys Electronic Lab Notebook.

Supported by Accelrys Professional Services, Accelrys’ phased ELN migration program lowers risk, reduces effort and maintains R&D productivity during the migration process, enabling customers to transition to the Accelrys ELN at their own pace, and as budget and resources permit. Throughout the transition, scientists are equipped with a single primary ELN; they are not required to use two ELNs at any time and can access all available information anytime.

First Accelrys Tech Summit a Success!

Last month Accelrys along with our partners IBM and Microsoft, hosted dozens of customers at the first Pipeline Pilot Tech Summit in London. The Summit targeted Accelrys customers with enterprise IT responsibilities, offering interactive sessions designed to help IT groups leverage the Pipeline Pilot platform to improve productivity through shared best practices. Based on much positive feedback, we will be hosting future Tech Summits.

Accelrys Recognized by Computerworld as 2011 Honors Laureate

On the basis of our nominated project, "Informatics for Neglected Diseases Collaborations," Accelrys has been selected by a panel of peers as one of 255 Laureates from 23 countries in the 2011 Computerworld Honors Program. Founded in 1988, this is the longest running global program honoring the use of information technology to promote positive social, economic and educational change.

In collaboration with SCYNEXIS and Tibco Software, Accelrys submitted a project involving the development of innovative, state-of-the-art data analysis, visualization and mining tools on a SaaS platform. The program enables global virtual teams to collaborate effectively in developing new medicines for underfunded but important diseases, typically in the context of not-for-profit, public-private partnerships (PPPs).

Accelrys NGS Collection Results in 2011 Bio-IT World Best Practice Award

Based on their implementation of Accelrys’ Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Collection for Pipeline Pilot, Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd. has been awarded a Grand Prize in Bio-IT World’s Best Practice awards program. The NGS Collection enables genomics researchers to gain valuable insight from massive, complex NGS datasets by using the most widely applied and best validated analysis methods currently available for all major types of NGS experiments. The Collection also enables research IT experts to quickly integrate new algorithms and computational approaches in one of today’s most rapidly changing research domains. Oxford Nanopore Technologies are using and distributing the NGS Collection as the preferred analysis platform for the single-molecule NGS technology they are  developing.
