Bryn Roberts, head of global research informatics at Roche addresses the delegates of the 2011 European User Group Meeting.

One hundred and seventeen customers and sixteen partners attended the annual Accelrys European User Group Meeting (EUGM) held last month in Athens, Greece, making our 2011 meeting the best attended EUGM to date.

  • Bryn Roberts, head of global research informatics at Roche, spoke on complex information landscapes with a focus on integrated next-generation user interfaces.
  • Christian Bernlind, associate principal scientist at AstraZeneca , spoke about process chemistry’s need for more than just a “paper lab notebook on screen” to support Quality by Design.
  • Robert Wade, research fellow at Pfizer, talked about how process chemists’ adoption of Symyx Notebook by Accelrys has helped take the “work” out of workflow.
  • Ed D'Hooghe, innovation manager at SusChem, discussed the European Sustainable Innovation initiative and chemistry’s role in reducing the consumption of ecological resources.

The diversity and reach of Accelrys’ product portfolio were evident in talks given by 31 customers in six tracks throughout the meeting.

A Partner Showcase and Product Gallery also ran each day of the meeting. Partners and meeting sponsors such as Digital Science, Discngine, ChemAxon, Vialis and Thomson Reuters provided “microtalks” during meeting breaks. Attendees also had the opportunity to view demonstrations and chat with Accelrys technical staff.

Accelrys customers who were unable to attend can request a user name and password to access presentations and videos from the event by emailing Accelrys Support.
