Tech Summit Attracts Large Turnout
Accelrys hosted its second successful Technical Summit on September 13-14 in Princeton, NJ. Designed exclusively for IT professionals, the Tech Summit addressed enterprise topics such as performance, upgrades, development and integration. With a special focus on Accelrys Pipeline Pilot, Accelrys Isentris and Symyx Notebook by Accelrys, technical personnel from Accelrys, Intel, HP and Amazon Web Services provided insights into how to leverage Accelrys products to improve both IT and scientific end user environments.
Recent product announcements supporting Accelrys’ new Cheminformatics Suite include a new chemical registration system and an updated chemical data cartridge.
Accelrys Chemical Registration 3.0
Chemical Registration is the first all-new Cheminformatics product resulting from the merger between Accelrys and Symyx. Graphically built Pipeline Pilot protocols make the application easy to configure and extend while Web Service capabilities enable scientists to register molecules directly from other applications including electronic lab notebooks.

Accelrys Direct 8.0
The industry-leading Accelrys Direct chemical data cartridge will incorporate enhancements derived from the Accelrys Pipeline Pilot and Accord cartridges to enhance scalability and offer improved capabilities in handling Markush homology groups—enabling scientists to explore chemical structures and novel macromolecular sequences stored in a single corporate registry.
Industry Interview—Legality of ELN Records
In recent years electronic records have been used successfully as evidence in patent interference cases. Despite this, some companies are still hesitant in moving towards a fully electronic system for IP protection. In this interview Colin G. Sandercock , one of the United States’ leading IP lawyers, discusses the legal issues surrounding electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) records.
