Biography
Misbah Sarwar is currently Principal Scientist at Johnson Matthey having joined the company in January 2007. She completed her first degree at UCL in 2002. Misbah then moved to the Royal Institution of Great Britain (RI) to study for a PhD. Since joining Johnson Matthey in 2007 Misbah has been using modules in Materials Studio to gain a fundamental understanding of how JM catalysts work.

Biography
Michael Elliott is the CEO at Atrium Research & Consulting. Mr. Elliott founded the company in 2003 to provide educational content, market research and strategic management consulting in the field of scientific informatics. In its tenth year, Atrium Research is the recognized leader in its field.

His career began as a bioanalytical researcher at Indiana University School of Medicine. In 1983, he joined Perkin-Elmer Corporation, as a laboratory information software consultant. His career then progressed from LIMS sales, division director, vice president of global marketing, to general manager of the pharmaceutical analysis division. In 2000, he joined Scientific Software, Inc. (now part of Agilent) as sr. vice president responsible for worldwide operations.

Mr. Elliott has authored multiple research studies on laboratory informatics including the industry standard report on ELN and has over 30 published articles. He is also on the editorial boards of the publications European Pharmaceutical Review and Scientific Computing.

Bryan Billings has IT expertise in a variety of technical languages, platforms and concepts.  He provides top-level support to Accelrys enterprise class customers including on-site training and implementation services, as well as data migration and initial inventory project management.  Bryan has performed as the project manager on the initial installation and inventory collection process for a major chemical manufacturer spanning multiple sites in both the United States and Europe.  He has enabled numerous organizations - from life sciences to consumer goods - to address a wide range of regulatory requirements: From ensuring fire code compliance of hazardous materials, to accurate Tier II reporting, to utilizing a GMP-enabled CISPro solution.

Biography
With a PhD in atmospheric chemistry kinetics, it was perhaps not an obvious choice for me to join a Fast Moving Consumer Goods multinational in 1987 working on new washing power technologies. Over the next couple of years I developed a computer-based model of a washing machine to simulate the effects of using new products within traditional washing machines. From there, I moved to spend a year designing soap bars that contain no soap. Incidentally demonstrating my keen inability to perform any practical experimentation – a skill that led me to joining the founding of the computer modelling team in 1990.

Since then I have been leading the development, acquisition and application of Informatics techniques to the design of new ingredients for all the parts of Unilever related to cleaning, (hair, deodorants, toothpaste, household cleaners, skin creams as well as washing powders & liquids) and foods. This has involved both working with academic departments, such as the Unilever Centre for Molecular Informatics at Cambridge, and running internal projects to develop & apply new capabilities.

Nigel Higginson is a member of Corporate Function R&D at Procter & Gamble. Based primarily in the South East of the UK he leads the European Materials Organisation which serves the formulated R&D laboratories and Pilot Plants. Having joined P&G in 1994 he has held a variety of positions in Quality Assurance and Materials Management. Currently the internal global business owner for CISPro he has worked with ChemSW for approximately 10 years.  Married and a keen outdoorsman he enjoys playing golf in the summer, skiing in the winter and walking his dog Jake.

Biography
Stephen Todd is a Senior Product Manager at Accelrys focused on the Materials Science modeling and simulation technologies. His main interest is in developing and extending the Materials Studio suite of tools and their implementation in Pipeline Pilot. He has been involved with Materials Studio for the last 10 years, focusing primarily on classical simulations and mesoscale but more recently diversifying into other techniques. He has been an active member of the Accelrys Community and been a strong advocate of the MaterialsScript model for automation and extending the toolset. More recently, he has been focusing on the Materials Studio Collection in Pipeline Pilot and is really interested in wider deployment of the scientific tools in Materials Studio.

Dr Marc Meunier is a Fellow at Accelrys, the world leader in scientific informatics software based in Cambridge.  His research interests are in: space charges, simulation of polymeric materials, pharmaceutical materials science and more recently on the growing field of materials informatics. Editorial board member of the journal Molecular Simulation, his publications appear in journals of Chemical Physics, Applied Physics and Polymer.

Benoît Schnell is fellow in structure-properties relationships in the Elastomers Department at Michelin, leader of tire manufacturers. His main activity is to design, particularly due to molecular simulations, new materials which can be used in tires. He also owns a French specific degree called “l’Agrégation”, which allows to teach in particular classes dedicated to the preparation of engineer schools. Thus, he makes some interventions in such a class and also gives a course about polymer nanocomposites at the University of Clermont-Ferrand.

Bjoern Winkler is head of the crystallography group at the Goethe University in Frankfurt. His group studies structure-property relations of crystalline compounds by a combination of experiment and

theory. One major aim of his research is to understand reactions and phase transitions at very high pressures and temperatures. He is the principal investigator for the laser-heating system at the extreme conditions beam line at PETRA III in Hamburg (Germany) and leads a project to build a new diffractometer at the ESRF in Grenoble (France).

Dr. Viswanath Krishnan is a global solutions executive, focusing on strategy & implementation of supply chain solutions in the Process industries.

Dr. Krishnan has deep expertise in business analysis, design, implementation and integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems, Integrated Information Systems and Supply Chain Management solutions for the process industries, particularly for chemicals & petroleum related clients.

Dr Jérôme Gomar. Chemist Engineer, Ph.D in chemistry in 1997 from the University of Orléans, France. Postdoc in biophysics, in QSAR, project leader in the start-up Synt:em. Working in the group of computational chemistry of the Advanced Research Division of L’Oréal since 10 years. Co-author of 2 patents, 10 papers. My current activities are the design of new active compounds or reagents for a cosmetic use, the development of novel methods for the predictive evaluation of the performance/ safety based on computational chemistry, the management of research projects in order to accelerate the innovation processus.

I started as technician at Shell Amsterdam mid 1979. My education has been on organic chemistry, and has broadened to more physical chemistry during my work for Shell. Topics that passed in the years till present are electrochemistry, photo-galvanic solar cells, catalyst research, membrane technology, high throughput experimentation, equipment development and data-management.

I’m married and live in a medieval town and house in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands. Next to my work for Shell is my time consumed mainly by extending my music collection, giving athletics training, cooking, and attempting to play classical guitar.

Biography
Reza is the Managing Director at Accelrys with focus on Material Science and Engineering . He has over 20 years of experience in executive management, portfolio planning, product development, mergers and acquisitions and deep knowledge of the PLM software industry.

Reza started his engineering career in Aerospace. He has held multiple executive roles at MARC, a Palo Alto based company and MSC, an Irvine based company, both of which are developers of PLM software with focus on modeling and simulation. As MSC Software’s CTO Reza was responsible for product strategy and a large modeling & simulation portfolio with a global team located across US, Europe and Asia.

He is a regular speaker at a number of international events including NAFEMS and is a member of the US DOE national review board. Reza has held a number of advisory Board Positions.

Reza maintains an adjunct position at University of California, San Diego, where he taught graduate level classes for 10+ years. He lives in La Jolla, CA.
