Lab Operations Overview

The Accelrys Lab Operations suite of products focuses on providing objects, services and applications designed to support efficient, streamlined laboratory operations and collaboration. Together they provide all or part of a master data management and workflow orchestration environment for operational efficiencies within R&D labs—an environment where scientists can manage and track entities such as work requests, equipment, containers, samples and other critical objects and workflows across multiple applications and locations.

The current Metrology and Work Request Lab Operations  applications are Web-based and can be integrated into existing laboratory environments or deployed as out-of-the-box, integrated applications with the Accelrys Lab Execution and Analysis (LEA) suite or Accelrys Electronic Lab Notebook. Additional Materials and Procurement modules are planned.

The benefits of the Lab Operations suite are compelling.  For the research manager and supporting staff, project tasks across the organization gain visibility and are tracked in one system.  Reporting and searching tools give an overview of ongoing activities while providing easy access to test results.

For the scientist, the ability to assign tasks to others and track their status increases productivity and provides support for cross-site/department workflows that are often bottlenecks in project progress. Scientists have access to a wealth of information about activities and tests that have been done by others, enabling them to leverage the organizational knowledge base and work smarter.
