Overview: Insight II Migration to Discovery Studio Training

The course will provide an overview of the Discovery Studio interface compared to the Insight II interface. The workshop will focus on differences in the respective graphical user interfaces and work flow techniques.


On completion of the workshop the user will have covered:

  • Graphical user interface design including how to customize the interface
  • Use of tools, protocols, menus and explorers
  • Mouse and keyboard controls
  • Supported file types for import and export
  • Transferring data Insight II into Discovery Studio
  • Working with PDB files in Discovery Studio
  • Display style options
  • Protein utilities for cleaning up and editing a protein structure
  • Building a peptide
  • Calculating the electrostatic potential for a molecular system
  • Assigning force field types and charges
  • Running a CHARMm simulation
  • Trajectory analysis
  • Copying and pasting to and from the Data Table
